Rottalma is also home to a pack of aged vallhunds,Hardy - 16+ years and Gizmo,Bond,and Susie all 14+ years. No longer shown our OAPs spend their days relaxing and watching the world go by.Susie loves her food and has succumbed to middle aged spread, Hardy, our eldest is still a naughty boy and will shred anything left within reach. He cannot be left with the girlies as he still thinks he is a right Casanova Bond seems to be losing his sight so we always make sure we speak so he knows we are there Giz has recovered from a paralysing illness and is back on his legs.
This breed deserves more recognition in this country they are loyal companions that are long lived and relatively free from health problems. They were originally used as drovers dogs and almost died out in their native Sweden until they were saved by one man's determination to preserve the breed.
